500 x 500 TWS If I Dont Come Home logo.jpg

10 years ago we birthed a record into the world, it came at a time for us of creative discovery as we worked to figure out what it meant to sound like The Wooden Sky. We realize now it’s a moving target but holed up in garages around the city we worked to define what that was at the time.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of ‘If I don’t come home, you’ll know I’m gone.’ We are playing two unique shows at different venues in Toronto.

September 13 7:30pm SOLD OUT: True to the Bedrooms and Backstreets tour that launched the album, we will perform an acoustic set aboard a Pirate Ship as it sets sail around the cities harbour. Space is very limited, tickets are available here.

September 13th 9:30: Due to popular demand we have added a second sailing of the Pirate ship! Tickets are available here.

September 14: Owl’s Club: We will performing IIDCH in it’s entirety in the intimate Owl’s Club.

Summer’s here and in full swing, we have a few shows lined up this summer and are spending most of our time writing new material. Stay tuned my friends and thank you for the continued support:

June came and went but not before we made a stop at Toronto's famed Massey Hall and made our way down the east coast of the US stopping in Philly to perform at NPR Music's World Cafe talking at length with fantastic new host and friend Talia Schlanger on topics ranging from the new album and beyond.  You can hear the whole thing here and can take a look at the performance of Swimming in Strange Waters over at NPR by clicking here.

The world's spinning around and we are back on the road here in Germany.  We are pleased to release a visual piece to accompany 'Swimming in Strange Waters'.  It was conceived, directed and edited by Jeff Bierk and in his words is...

" a very still frame, portraits, built up, layered, dancing with each other and with the sky - it’s very trippy when Gavin and Simon’s faces melt into each other, I think that's my favourite part of the whole thing. That frame is then layered over top of a kind of chaotic, moving background, everything moves and morphs, all in an effort to match the different paces, and layers of the song " .

It's beautiful and strange, see for yourself.

It's alive!  Very excited to release our 5th LP today.  Swimming in Strange Waters has been a labour of love from day one and has seen a lot of different hands help it along the way.  A big thanks to all our friends, family and loved ones that helped inspire us and made this record possible.  Hope you'll enjoy.

Vinyl is in!  You can pre-order it from the Chelsea Records Store now, all pre-orders come on the limited edition coloured vinyl and contain an exclusive download code for the albums original scrappy demos!  In the meantime the good folks over at CBC Music are streaming the record for the entire week leading up to it's release world wide on April 7th!

With April 7th and the release of our new record, Swimming in Strange Waters, quickly approaching we are excited to announce we are once again taking this show on the road!  We will be coming to cities across North America with our friends in Timber Timbre and are making the trek back across the pound to visit the UK and Europe once again (more on that soon).  See you out there:

You’re Not Alone, the second single from our new record, is streaming now on Clash Music.  It’s one of my favorites on the record and finds us channeling our inner Fleetwood Mac while borrowing a little of the magic Jim O’Rourke conjures in his beautiful string arrangements.  It was mixed by John Agnello and features the work of Edwin Huizinga on the violin and Adam Kinner on the clarinet.

Swimming in Strange Waters is out everywhere April 7th via Nevado Music!

We have a lot of tour dates coming up and looking forward to getting out and playing these songs for you.

Here's a new video Kip put together for Don't You Worry About A Thing.

Summers drawing to a close and so too is our new record!  We've been back and forth to the sweaty streets of Hoboken to mix with John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Dino Jr., Sonic Youth, general mix wizard/nutjob).  It's exciting to hear this thing take shape under his hands after working away at it for the last 6 months here in our own studio in Toronto.  It's pretty different then anything we've ever done and exciting to see that after being a band for almost 10 years we are still able to push ourselves into new and uncharted waters.  Needless to say we're excited to get this out into the world.

We have lots of other exciting news to share soon about upcoming shows and new music from other friends so stay tuned.

We are now hard at work on a brand new record, feels pretty amazing to be back in the studio experimenting and finding new sounds.  We are still a ways off but the wheels are in motion and things are already sounding pretty great, excited to share it!  We also wanted to extend our thanks to all that came and were a part of this year's holiday shows in both Toronto and Ottawa.  Thanks to your help we were able to donate $5000 between Romero House and Carty House, check out the great work they are doing in your communities.  No plans for shows just yet but surely there will be some before long.  Big congratulations to Wyatt and Stevie on their wedding in January!

We are sorry to say that our show tonight in Paris has been cancelled.  Our thoughts go out to all those in Paris and in the many other places dealing with this confusion and violence right now.  I can't pretend to have answers but I do know that we will go on sharing our love and passion through music for as long as we are able to.

On a positive note our Holiday Shows in both Toronto and Ottawa are quickly approaching.  It's one of our favorite shows of the year and we look forward to expanding it outside of our hometown this year.  WAWA has again curated an amazing group of local artists who will be selling their wares at the December 14th event, check out the flyer to learn more about each artist and the work they do.  Proceeds from the Toronto show will go to Romero House and while partial proceeds from the Ottawa shows will be donated to Carty House to help them continue the important work they do.

The Toronto show is all SOLD OUT however there are still some tickets available for the Ottawa shows.  Tickets here: http://www.ticketmaster.ca/artist/1252319?lang=en-ca&brand=nac&_ga=1.151560048.851498547.1414011638

This year has been a pretty crazy adventure and seen us travel the world playing music together.  As I type this I'm sitting on a patio in Tokyo, thinking about all the places we've been and people we've met and am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Tomorrow we begin the last leg of our 2015 'Swimming in Strange Waters' tour here in Tokyo before headed back to Germany and on wards to Spain, Switzerland, France and the UK.  Full dates are below.

I'm also excited to announce our 6th Annual Holiday Show, happening again this year at 918 Bathurst on December 14th.  Tickets are sold out online and there are but a handful left at both Rotate This and Soundscapes.  I'm pleased to announce also that we will again feature a holiday market as part of this years show, stay tuned for details on the different designers and artists who will be featured.  Joining us at the show will be our friends Dusted and all proceeds from the show will go to support Romero House as they continue to support refugee families making the trek to Canada.  Ottawa friends we are also pleased to be presenting our Holiday Show for the first time at the NAC on December 15 & 16th click here for tickets!

We are back in Europe for a few weeks of shows to celebrate the release here of Let's Be Ready.  It's been a few years since we've toured this side of the Atlantic and once this jet lag wears off it's going to be a fine time.  While home we've been slowly working on some new music and will be playing some of it while we're here.  More exciting touring news on the horizon as it looks like music will be taking us to new places around the world.  Thanks for your continued support and for allowing us to be a part of your lives.  Be excellent to each other!

Crazy to think summer is drawing to an end, it's been a bit of a whirlwind.  We crossed the length of North America twice, and are forever grateful for all the new friends and fans we met along the way.  The road angels who helped us change a tire someplace in Wyoming, the man at the Holiday Inn who gave us a free night stay after we booked the wrong night.  We have a busy fall, coming back to see friends in Europe and the UK, working on new music and hopefully sharing some with everyone.  We have one more show here in Toronto this weekend, it's a camping festival put on by the great folks at Wavelength.  Come join as we toast to a beautiful season passing.  Tickets are available here.

To celebrate our return to the EU/UK next month we've released a live video of us playing Maybe It's No Secret:

Thanks to everyone at Capitol Hill Block Party here in Seattle and the kind folks in Calgary at the Calgary Folk Fest for an amazing weekend.  We are resting up in the sunshine of Seattle today before starting back out on tour this week.  We are in Revelstoke, BC this Wednesday and rolling on westward as time goes on, check out the full dates here: Tourin', Tourin', It's Never Borin'.

Tour rolls on, tonight we are back in Philadelphia, Washington tomorrow and off to NYC for a couple shows this weekend.  Happy Canada Day to our countrymen and a happy Independence Day to our friends in the south.  Our thoughts go out to the folks in La Ronge who after being amazing hosts were evacuated from their homes the very next day.

While were at home we stopped by the CBC Q studios to play a few songs and chat with the amazing Talia Schlanger.  Here's a video they posted of us playing the song 'The Lonesome Death of Helen Betty Osborne' from our first record.  To read more about Canada's ongoing struggle with violence against Indigenous Women read this moving piece from Joanna Jolly at the BBC

Thanks to all our friends across the prairies, tonight we are in the fine city of Edmonton then off to the Napatak Ramble.  After a short break will be off to the East Coast US for a few shows.  We have added a show in Revelstoke, BC as well as in Sacramento, CA.  Full list of dates here

Let's be ready.  Comes out tomorrow in the USA and we are kicking things off in Minneapolis tomorrow!  Our friends at KCRW are streaming the entire record on their site and you can take a listen here: http://www.kcrw.com/music/shows/album-preview/the-wooden-sky-lets-be-ready

Survival is the ability to swim in strange water.
— Frank Herbert

We are pleased to announce that our album 'Let's be ready' will be released in the US/UK/EU on June 16th via our friends at Nevado Records.  We are also coming to a town very near you on our Swimming in Strange Waters summer tour.  Check out the tour page for more details.

It feels like it's been a long cold winter in the fine city of Toronto, as the snow begins to melt inspiration can't be far behind!  With that in mind we are excited to be starting up the machine again and taking this show on the road.  Wooden Sky will be hitting the road starting with a few dates in Quebec and many more to follow.  We also have some exciting news for our friends in the United States of America.  To our friends in the EU/UK it's been too long and we're working on plans to visit your fine shores as well.
